Grey Wolf

Back in February a Wyoming man named Cody Roberts deliberately ran over a wolf in his snowmobile, traumatically injuring the animal. Instead of immediately putting the wolf out of its misery, he taped its mouth shut and posed for pictures with it. He then dragged the poor injured animal to a local bar and showed it off for hours before killing it. The actions have caused an outcry everywhere but in Wyoming, where killing a wolf with a snowmobile is perfectly legal, and Wyoming Game & Fish slapped Roberts on the wrist with a minor $250 fine.

Throughout the US, and especially the West, wolves have been vilified and hunted to near extinction for generations. While there are some protections in place, survival is once again perilous for these majestic carnivores who play a vital role in the ecosystem. On the next Voices For The Animals, host Michele Coppola speaks with  Amaroq Weiss, Senior Wolf Advocate at The Center For Biological Diversity for the truth about wolves and what can be done to protect them.
